Caroline Webber

I was born in France, where I studied Communication and Journalism. I moved to London 11 years ago, in 2006, where I then became a secondary school teacher. In 2017, I graduated from the MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the London College of Communication. There are two sides to my work; I enjoy travel photography the most because it allows me to discover new cultures and then share it with the world but on an every day basis, I use participatory photography as a tool to teach French and Media Studies to my students.

For this project, I wanted to break stereotypes regarding the kind of art/photographs people would find on the walls of new builds. There is a clear connection between architecture and identity and in my opinion it is important to get a positive relationship between humans and objects, especially in a living space. Therefore, I wanted to focus my photos on pets. I believe that animals’ photographs humanise a place and having pets’ photographs bring a homely atmosphere. Each photograph has the name and post code of those life companion which shows they belong to this community.
