Claire Barthelemy

I was born in Paris, France where I studied textile design. I moved in London in 2015 to graduate a Master textile design focusing on sustainability at Chelsea College of Arts in 2016. I broadened my creative practice with photography at London College of Communication where I graduated in 2017. I consider photography as an emotional happening, therefore I am particularly interested in analog photography and printmaking, playing with the uncertainty and the unknown.

I developed a series of blurred photographs of Elephant&Castle area, in between abstraction/figuration. One can only see shapes in the mist of the night. Each photograph reveals something of local area and hides it at the same time. They convey a sort of mystery as an invitation to explore residents’ surroundings and stay surprised.
