Ruby Steele

My name is Ruby Steele, I was born in London, but grew up just outside of it. I returned to London in 2015 to study photography BA in London College of Communication, UAL. My work focuses on relationships and the psychology of human interaction. I am interested in the places we inhabit and how they reflect us.

For 251 I developed a series based upon human psychology and its interaction with the surroundings, yet eliminated ‘humans’ from the work itself. Instead, I projected the concepts and behaviours of the community onto the symbol of the elephant itself. I wanted to consider the emotions of a community and what it can mean for people, reflecting on themes of isolation, diversity, confidence and family.
