Jane Waksman

After many years of drawing and painting, Jane first started sculpting in 2001 and worked as a sculptor part time until 2007 followed by more formal studies to learn specific techniques by attending St Martin’s School of Art, Meltdowns foundry and City Lit. Most recently, she has studied wood and stone sculpting with Alexandra Harley ARBS and have just returned from learning further stone carving techniques at the Corsinni studio in Carrera in Italy. Her work always comes reverts to abstracting the form, playing with the lines, shapes and surfaces of the body with movement, dance and music as recurring central themes. Jane’s major influences are the British expressionist figurative sculptors such as Reg Butler, Lynn Chadwick and Kenneth Armitage.
